Tournament Head's up - Mon 24th March 2008 @ 5:31 pm I've had two good result MTT this weekend. A second place on a $800 GTD and a 6th place on $1500 GTD. I was relly disappointed, though, on my second place because i started the final head's up with almost 100K more than the other player, and at a certain point i had more than 200K more, than we went all in, he was on a flush draw with 3d2d on his hand, and the turn was a 2, and the river was a 2... after that he kept a good distance leading when he slow played the aces and finally beat me. I'm asking if you guys have any suggestions on how to outplay luck on a heads up situation like mine (when you're so far ahead)? Thanks

Re: Tournament Head's up - Mon 24th March 2008 @ 5:46 pm Well, I just started reading Sexton's Corner, vol 37 on pokernews.com http://www.pokernews.com/news/2008/03/sextons-corner-37-archie-karas- part-7.htm about Archie Karas. Archie has said, "I liked to play the highest limits possible, where other people might look on but couldn't afford to sit down and play. I preferred playing heads up, because there is more skill needed to win. I wanted to eliminate the luck factor. There is more luck in the ring games, where other players will make mistakes and it will cost you." That's an interesting thought, I'd like to discuss about it. He has some credit, since he made like 15 Million out of poker (and some 25 Million of dices). Of course, that is very different from tournament since the blinds are very different (on tournament they are usually higher and keep growing on head's up both players starts deep stacked) but that is sometinhg to think about.

Re: Tournament Head's up - Mon 31st March 2008 @ 12:37 pm Yeah heads up is the game you can have the most control over. I'm not sure I'd say it's "more" skillful though. It's a different skill. A good ring game player can control 5 people, a good heads up player can control 1.

Sounds like you did the right thing in your tourney btw. Not a lot you can do - that flush draw is what you're hoping for a lot of the time.
What's a signat... oh.
